NEPNI observes International Nurses’ Day
Guwahati, Thursday, May 12, 2022: NEPNI Group of Institutions under NEPNI Trust observed International Nurses’ Day on Thursday at its Alikash Campus in Kamrup rural to mark the contributions that nurses make to the society in keeping with the practice of the International Council of Nurses. Present to commemorate the anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birthday as Chief Guest was influential Assamese film actor, director and producer, Shri Pranjal Saikia. Encouraging the students during the occasion, he said that, “It is only in cases of emergencies that we realize the importance of nurses and the capacity of the nursing community. The smile on the faces of nurses has the capacity to make big difference. No price can be put on it. I am glad to be here on this auspicious day.” Nursing is a profession that can change the society and develop the nation, he said.
Chief Guest, Shri, Pranjal Saikia, Principal, NEPNI School of Nursing, Smt. Bina Bora, Principal, NEPNI College of Nursing GNM, Smt. Punam Debbarma, Principal, NEPNI School of Nursing ANM, Smt. Puspa Kanti Bora, Principal, Winden Community College of Nursing, Smt. Mina Kerketta and Executive President of NEPNI Group of Institutions, Shri Babul Ali, partook of in the ceremonial garlanding of portraits and lamp lighting.
Concluding his address to the gathering, Shri Babul Ali, said that, ‘The demand for nursing personnel is on an incline abroad. There is a huge demand for well trained Indian nurses. With the nurse-population ratio in India being 1.96 nurses per 1,000 populations, India too is in need of trained nurses add to it the booming healthcare industry.”
