Physiotherapy is an important segment of rehabilitative medicine. It focuses on the use of various modalities, physical treatments, exercises, and manual therapy to improve and cure injuries, prevent deformities, and diseases. Apart from rehabilitation, some other important sections of physiotherapy are diagnosis, examination, and assessment of the condition. It is one of the fastest-growing and evolving healthcare professions. It is a part of modern medical science. Physiotherapists can maintain the health of people of all ages, helping patients to manage their pain and prevent progression of the disease process. The profession helps to encourage development and facilitate recovery, enabling people to stay in work while helping them to remain independent for as long as possible.
Physiotherapy is a degree-based health care profession. Physiotherapists use their knowledge and skills to improve a wide range of conditions associated with different systems of the body, such as Neurological, Neuromusculoskeletal, Cardiovascular, Respiratory, OBG, etc.
They work in a variety of specialisms in health and social care. Additionally, some physiotherapists are also involved in higher education, research, and service management.
BACHELOR IN PHYSIOTHERAPY
5-year course
(4+ 1 year compulsory internship)
The Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy is a five-year full-time academic programme with an annual pattern of examination. The curriculum includes 80 hours of theory and 30 hours of practical in each subject on average in each year. It also includes clinical postings in various hospital departments in the city. After completion of 4 years of education, the student undergoes a rotatory internship for a period of 1 year in various departments of a few reputed hospitals within the state and outside the state. The medium of instruction for the course is English.
Eligibility Criteria
- 10+2 having English as a subject in Science stream with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB) as mandatory subjects with a minimum of 50% marks from a recognized Board. with NEET
- A candidate should have completed the age of 17 years as on 31st December of the year of admission to the B.P.T. Degree Course.
- Every candidate must furnish a medical certificate of physical fitness from an authorised Government Medical Officer certifying that the candidate is physically fit to undergo the Physiotherapy course before admission.
- Selection criteria for admission shall normally be on a merit basis
