OBSERVATION OF WORLD AIDS DAY 2021

The word AIDS (Acquired Immuno Deficiency Syndrome) causes stigma across the globe till date. Right from its inception in the year 1988, entrapping 79.3 million victims worldwide and the causative agent HIV (Human Immuno deficiency Virus) has always pulled the limelight towards it. Every year on 1st December, World AIDS Day is celebrated across the nations with different themes each year. This year it was “End Inequalities, End AIDS, End Pandemic”. NEPNI Group of Institutions was fortunate enough to call upon eminent personnel to celebrate this day with Mrs. Manisha Hazarika, Social Activist and Singer, and Dr. Shasanka Shekhar, Assistant Professor of Community Medicine, Gauhati Medical College. A program was organized by Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India, with association of Atulya Bharat, covered by Byatikram Channel co-platformed by NEPNI Group of Institutions at Alikash, i.e. at our institutional campus on the day. Manisha Ma’am and Dr. Shasanka Sir spoke so well about the disease and also made us aware of many things not only regarding AIDS but also made us learn many new things via their plethora of experiences in various fields of expertise.
The program started at around 11:00AM and was ended at around 04:00PM. This included various activities like Quiz Competition, Extempore speech etc. The main attraction of this day was the Rally (Walkathon) within 1 km radius from the campus in and around. This rally was carried out by our students from all the Nursing and Allied Health Sciences background and was successfully completed within the stipulated time period.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the entire team of NEPNI for showing support and enthusiasm. We will always stand unite as a team, not only for any pandemic but also for all noble causes on our way towards bright light.
